Ripple Effect (RE) is registered and licensed Foreign Charity. RE Ethiopia was established in March 2006 and works to see a rural Ethiopia that is confident, thriving, and sustainable, with a growing economy and higher living standards for all. RE focuses on three thematic areas; Farm Systems, Gender and Social Inclusion and Enterprise Development to help to combat poverty and works to create a rejuvenated and abundant African environment for both current and future generations. We are recruiting a Health Officer of strong Nutrition knowledge, background, experience, and skills for Ripple Effect (RE) projects planned to be implemented in Dawro Zone.

 

Job requirements

 

For this vacant position we will consider applicants who have degree in a relevant field especially in Nutrition, health, and other related subject and at least 3 years of experience in Nutrition project implementation in NGOs environment and excellent communication skills both written and verbal, Strong understanding of nutrition principles and practices, experience working with communities and understanding their needs, flexibility to adapt to changing project requirements and situations, Strong organizational skills to manage project activities efficiently, Preferably Work experience with NGOs, Experience of Project implementation at field level, Experience in capturing lessons, develop case stories, documentation and sharing. Good experience and track of record on networking, partnership and relationship building.

Key Responsibilities of Health Officer:

Take charge of putting the project into action, ensuring that all activities run smoothly and lead the effective implementation of health and nutrition project, ensuring alignment with UNICEF’s goals and strategies, Foster strong collaborative relationships with key stakeholders, including government agencies, NGOs, and community partners, community members to promote project success, apply a deep understanding of health and nutrition principles and practices to and execute and design projects that enhance the knowledge and skills of Pregnant and Lactating Women (PLW), adolescents, and Persons with Disabilities (PWDs). This includes addressing nutrient-rich food consumption, household food security, healthy diets, and food systems, Work on increasing awareness among households about healthy eating, especially among Pregnant and Lactating Women (PLW), adolescents, and Persons with Disabilities (PWDs), Work to raise awareness and build the capacity of households to produce nutrient-dense foods, with a specific focus on Infant and Young Child Feeding (IYCF), PLW, and Young Child Feeding (YCF), Nutrient-Rich Food Production: Help families learn how to grow and prepare nutritious foods, particularly for babies and young children, Promote the adoption of good care practices for children, adolescents, and PLWs, advocating for positive behavior change within target communities, Encourage and support the adoption of good care practices for children, adolescents, and PLWs, Strengthen the abilities of local stakeholders and multi-sectoral platforms, including government institutions, to ensure sustained nutrition programming impact, Coordination: Lead efforts to coordinate and collaborate effectively across various sectors, from community levels to health facilities, to fortify resilient nutrition programming, Effective evidence generation: key lessons on nutrition both at the community level and health facilities captured, documented, and shared Job Specification, Efficiently manage project budgets, ensuring resources are allocated effectively to achieve project goals and deliverables.
