Job description

Job Purpose Summary:-
The Health Facility HIV screening & PITC Officer is responsible to perform HIV risk screening using HRST at assigned triage/s, execute HIV testing, and provide counseling service. He/she is also responsible to provide technical assistance related to HIV screening and testing at different SDPs outside of the triages and thereby contribute to the implementation and achievement of the HFs 3 95’s target.
Key duties and responsibilities:
• As a routine daily activity, perform HIV risk screening using HRST for all clients who reached at the facility’s triage
• Test all screen positives or eligible clients for HIV using the prevailing National HIV testing algorism and provide appropriate counseling service.
• Ensure all newly identified HIV positive clients are linked to ART services with an escort (escorted linkage) and registered on positive tracking register
• Distribute HIV Self-Test kits for all target clients and follow as per the direction and guidance.
• Ensure adequate HIV testing kits, accessories and M&E tools are availability at his/her own work station
• Document activities using registrations and other relevant M&E tools
• Produce and submit daily, weekly and monthly reports to the immediate supervisor

Job requirements

Required Qualification and Experience
• BSc Degree in public health, Nursing or above in clinical fields
• Minimum of two years current experience in the area of HIV Testing Services
• Knowledge of Ethiopia’s HTC direction and guiding principles including HTC guideline is desirable.
• Excellent computer skills with knowledge of the internet, Microsoft word, excel and power point
• Excellent team work, verbal and written communication, flexibility and adaptability, Patience and problem solving skill.
• Training on HTS (VCT/PITC) or ART will be mandatory
Salary: As Per the Organization scale
Terms of employment: Contract
Duration of contract: Six month with possible extension
Work Place: Central triages of selected Health Facilities, Addis Ababa
Immediate Supervisor: Health facility Case Detection officer
Reports to: Health facility Case Detection and OPD Director
Working hours: due to the special nature of the activity, the incumbent is expected to adhere to the following working hours, and only those who agree to work without duty or overtime payment must apply.
• Monday – Thursday Morning: 7:00 am – 12:30 am and afternoon, 1:30 pm – 4:00 pm
• Friday Morning; 7:00 am – 11:30 am and afternoon, 1:30 pm – 4:00 pm
