Report to:  Food Sciences and Nutrition Research Directorate

Job Description:

The Ethiopian Public Health Institute (EPHI) strives to address nutrition and health-related problems through operational research and generating evidence to inform policy and the effective implementation of health and nutrition programs in Ethiopia. To this end, the Food Sciences and Nutrition Research Directorate is planning to conduct a survey to assess dietary intakes and anthropometric status of adolescents and their caregivers. The survey will be implemented in Addis Ababa and Butajira town.

Responsibilities:

Data collectors will have the following responsibilities:

1.   Collect quantitative 24-hour dietary recall data for adolescents and their caretakers in their homes.

2.   Measure the height, weight, waist, and hip circumference of adolescents and their caretakers.

3.   Review each interview on the tablet before leaving the respondent’s house to ensure all questions are answered correctly.

4.   Send data to a central server daily.

5.   Liaise with data managers to correct data collection errors.

6.   Re-interview some households if errors are identified.

 

7.   Undertake any other necessary activities to complete the survey.

Job Requirements

.

· Bachelor’s degree in nutrition, public health, nursing, food science, social science, or related fields.

·  Experience in collecting 24-hour recall intake and anthropometric data is advantageous.

· Proficiency (oral and written) in Amharic and English is mandatory.

· Experience with electronic data collection tools such as Open Data Kit, Survey Solutions, or Survey CTO is advantageous.

· Qualified Female Candidates are encouraged to apply.

· Willingness to work on weekends is required.

· Excellent communication skills.
