Reporting to: EPHI, Food Science and Nutrition Research Directorate and Tigray Health Research Institute

Duration: 45 days

Job Description:

The Ethiopian Public Health Institute (EPHI) strives to address nutrition and health-related problems by conducting intervention-based research and contributing to the effective implementation of the Food and Nutrition Policy in Ethiopia. To this end, the Food Science and Nutrition Research Directorate is planning to implement a National Food and nutrition survey. This survey will serve as a baseline for the implementation of the Food and Nutrition Strategy. Data collectors required for the project will have the following responsibilities and requirements.

Responsibilities:

1. All data collectors are responsible for the delimitation of enumeration areas, household listing, and entire data collection.

2. Each data collection team will list all eligible households in the selected enumeration areas.

3. Identify the eligible household members.

4. Read the consent/assent form and obtain informed consent/assent from the selected respondents.

5. The data collector should interview the mother/caregiver of all selected children in the household and accurately record their responses. The same will apply to women of reproductive age groups and adolescents.

6. Review each questionnaire and laboratory test result on the tablet prior to moving to the next survey respondents and make sure all questions are answered correctly and results are documented properly.

7. Follow up with selected mothers/caregivers/children who were not present during the initial interview to ensure all the required information is completed.

8. Collect and prepare body fluids (such as blood and urine) and stool from study subjects at the health facility.

9. Test anaemia and malaria from whole blood and parasite from the stool of the study subjects at the health facility.

10. Collaboratively work with other survey teams for the effective implementation of the project.

11. Additional activities could be given by the project supervisor /coordinator.

Job Requirements

 

BSc in laboratory technology with at least 2 years of experience in the clinical setting. Demonstrate capability to draw blood from human subjects, especially children, and process the sample.

Language: Amharic and Tigrigna languages are advantageous

.
