Summary of Position

 

Plan, organize and evaluate activities relating to nursing and associated teams, in accordance with MSF values, policies and protocols, and universal health standards, in order to ensure the quality of care and continuity development of the nursing plan and action.

Accountability 

  • Organize and coordinate the nursing activities (Daily work, weekly and monthly program), monitor the staff’s performance, and define their training needs to ensure the human resources and maintain the quality of care.
  • Perform the functions and tasks associated with nursing, and act as a nurse when required or necessary, in order to optimize resources, by contributing knowledge and experience.
  •  Carry out / supervise the management of the satellite pharmacy; ordering, inventory, maintaining the condition, and arranging the expired items in the department.
  • Guarantee that all personnel using medical devices are qualified and trained. Ensure that cleaning concerning medical devices follows the protocol. Report the malfunctioning medical device to the project’s biomedical service and line manager.
  • Implement all hygiene protocols, and procedures, and verify that the team follows the same standards in order to ensure the quality of care.
  • Collaborate with each activity manager to maintain and support the daily implementation of standard precautions and IPC in the project. Supervise staff and provide technical assistance, support, training, and advice following IPC tools, audits, and checklists.
  • Collect reliable data for the regular report and submit it to the line manager.
  • Keeping a safe hospital environment, intervening and alerting the line manager in case of security incidents and hygiene concerns in the hospital.
  • Carry out the regular feedback and forward it to each staff.
  • Organize and carry out regular meetings with the team to maintain the quality of patient care and a sufficient working environment

MSF Section/Context-Specific Accountabilities

  • Ensuring high-quality nursing care, proper functioning of the OT, and the continuity of general medical care provided for patients according to MSF Nursing Guidelines, standards, and protocols.
  • Participating in medical rounds in order to know the surgical patient’s conditions and follow the department’s activity.
  • Collabolate and coordinate with surgeons, anesthesiologist, and paramedics to secure patient safety following MSF protocol in OT.
  • Supporting the OT team in case of staff absence, or unexpected increase in the workload by providing nursing care or any technical support needed, to ensure continuity of care for the patients.
  • Organizing/attending the meeting to maintain collaboration with the MoH or other actors.
  • Follow up on the presence/time sheet of the MOH staff on incentive and on-call duty.
  • Maintain and ensure the organization of OT in collaboration with surgeons, anesthetists, and paramedical staff to anticipate the needs and adapt the plan as required.

Job Requirements

 

 Required Qualifications and Professional Experience

Education: Nursing diploma or degree with additional OT course.

Experience:  At least Two Years Experience as an OT Nurse

Language: Essential mission language, local language desirable

Knowledge: Computer literacy, Excellent writing, and communications skills at influencing level.
