LIYANA HEALTH CARE PLC would like to recruit potential candidates for the position of Environmental Health Officer to assign at Yanet Specialized Internal Medicine and Surgical Center – Addis Ababa

Position Summary

Environmental Health Officer is responsible for infection prevention and control (IPC) program which is designed to provide a safe, sanitary, and comfortable environment and to help preventing transmission of communicable diseases and infectious practices in the health facility.

Responsibilities and Duties :

• Plans, develops, directs, implements and evaluates infection prevention activities within health facility.
• Investigates infection control problems and arranges follow-up care for patients exposed to infectious diseases.
• Conducts rounds, discussing and monitoring infection control practices with staff;
• Collects infection data from departments, maintaining records for each case;
• Trains staff on implementation of infection control practices;
• Investigates incidents of infection and reports such incidents mainly to Medical Director and other departments.
• Ensures availability of supplies required for infection control including personal protecting equipment’s (PPE).
• Overseeing compliance of the Exposure Control Plan and Infection Control Practices of the health facility utilizing the national standards/guidelines of infection Prevention.
•  Developing and revising policies and procedures relating to the Infection Control Program to insure infection control standards that meet regulatory body requirements.
• Submit a report of infections, recommendations for action, and control measures to the responsible person.
• Conduct outbreak investigations with collaboration of partners.
• Ensure functionality of health facility drainage lines in each room.
• Ensure dry disposal system is appropriately carried out especially using incinerator.
• Maintain a system for reporting possible incidents of communicable diseases to local, state, or national agencies as required.
• Design surveillance to identify possible communicable diseases or infection before the spread.

Provide in – service education on:

• Hand hygiene
• Cleansing, disinfection and sterilization
• Specific direct and indirect care settings
• Therapeutic and diagnostic procedures and devices
• Use of isolation/barrier precautions when indicated
• Resident placement, transfer, and discharge
• Environmental hazards
• Use of patient care products and medical equipment.

Qualification and Licensing

• BSc Degree in Environmental Health Professional from Recognized University
• Having Professional Licensing and Registration Certificate

Work Experience and Required

• New graduates are invited for competition
