Background

Multiple micronutrient supplementation (MMS) as part of maternal nutrition programming is an opportunity to accelerate progress toward several Global Nutrition Targets. Global evidence has concluded that antenatal MMS is beneficial both to women of reproductive age newborns than iron and folic acid (IFA) supplementation. The MMS through the routine antenatal care is proposed as an intervention to improve birth outcomes. The Ministry of Health in Ethiopia has been demonstrating MMS programme in selected districts (Woredas) from five regional states of Ethiopia, replacing IFA supplementation. As per the world health organization’s recommendation, the Ethiopian Public Health Institute (EPHI) in collaboration with partners is conducting MMS program evaluation implementation research. Date has been collected at facility-level from mothers who gave birth at health centers and hospitals in the selected districts for MMS Vs IFA program evaluation research districts. As the data has been collected with paper-based approach in hard copies, the project required data entrants to base at EPHI and primarily perform data entry but be responsible to accepted additional assignments.   Goal of the research and primary Vs secondary objectives of the research are outlined below;

  • To estimate the cost and cost-effectiveness of the MMS intervention;
