DISTINCT FUTURE OF CVDA

Common Vision for Development Association (CVDA) is an indigenous, non-governmental,  non-for-profit, humanitarian aid association. It was established on October 28, 2005 by a group of dedicated persons from diverse social, economic, professional and religious backgrounds.

CVDA has been re-registered and licensed by the Ethiopian Ministry of Justice, Charities and Societies Agency, on November 30, 2009 as an Ethiopian Residents charity in accordance with the Charities and Societies proclamation No. 621/2009 with registration No. 0588. It has permission to work at the national level however so far operates marginal parts of Benshangule Gumuz Region, SNNPR (Hawassa, Yirgalem, Dilla, Yergachefe, Aletawondo, Wondo Genet, Chuko, Bule, Goreche and Gumer ),  Oromia Region,West Showa Zone(Muger), Borena Zone (Hageremaireyam, Yabello & Moyale), Guji Zone( Adola, Shakiso & Borena Negele), West Arsi Zone (Shashemene, Arsi Negele, Adaba, Nensebo, Kokosa, Shala, Siraro, and Kore woredas) Afar Region;  Zone 5; Delifage, Dewe, Telalek, Hadele Ele and Sumu Robi  Zone 3 ; Gewane and Gelalo  and City Government of Addis Ababa

It is member of Consortium of Reproductive Health Association (CORHA), Union of Ethiopian Women Charitable Association (UEWCA), Ethiopian Extractive Industries Transparency Initiative/EEITI/, Ethiopia Civil Society Coalition for Scaling up Nutrition/ECSC-SUN/ , Afar Region Health Partner Forum and Ethiopian Association for Organic Agriculture (EAOA).

Key ACCOMPLISHMENTS

CVDA has successfully implemented different food security, environmental conservation, income generating and HIV/AIDS project in collaboration with different stakeholders.  On environment conservation activity;  highly degraded land rehabilitated through soil and water conservation measure, area enclosure, vetiver grass and indigenous tree plantation, gabion established, stone and soil bund established, conservation agriculture  introduced, biogas   technology introduced and established, fuel wood saving stove established at HH level, spring water developed, washing stand,   shower established.

Food security and Income of target group improved through beekeeping, poultry farm, fruit tree plantation/ apple, mango and orange plantation/, vegetable garden, false banana plantation, vetiver grass bank. Other group established group and individual business such as hair dressing, tea room, sugar and edible oil distribution, dairy farm, stone production, shower room   and etc. On HIV prevention, care and support program target group and large community awareness raised on HIV prevention and living with HIV,  counseling service, economic strengthen and improving balance diet intake, engaging in income generating activities, access for clinical service through referral linkage.

Over all over 52 projects were implemented in different region and woredas since its establishment. In 2019/20 it has involved about 1630 volunteers and it has 74 full time staffs.

Description of the Vacancy

Common Vision for Development Association (CVDA) is partner with PSI   to implement USAID HIV Services for Key and Priority Populations ( USAID HS-KPP) project up until October 2023.

Implementation under this Activity for FY22 is guided by six Strategic Objectives (SOs), including:

SO1: Improve case identification through targeted testing strategies including ICT/PNS, HIVST, and reaching sexual networks for key and priority populations.

SO2: Increase availability of high-quality HIV prevention services to reduce HIV incidence among key and priority populations in community-based service delivery points.

SO3: Achieve saturation through increased access to ART and improved coverage through provision of differentiated care models including referral and linkage for treatment from the drop-in centers for key and priority populations.

SO4: Reduce interruption in treatment (IIT) through improved linkage, adherence, and continuity of treatment (COT) interventions including same-day ART.

SO5:  Increase viral load suppression through sample transport and results tracking from community service delivery points to viral load testing sites.

SO6: Reduce co-infection of HIV/STIs through increased use of SRH/GBV services integrated with HIV services by key and priority populations. to The

Duration of employment: from date of employment up to September 30, 2023 with high possibility of extension based on performance and availability of fund.

DUTIES AND RESPONSILBILITIES

Job Purpose:

Under the direct supervision of the project manager/coordinator, the Center coordinator is responsible to operate cross functionally to coordinate the town level project activities and ensure that all field level operations are evidence according to the principles of the MULU/MARPs project and they meet minimum service standards.

Specific duties and responsibilities of the incumbent

  • Accountable to support the town level project implementation
  • Coordinate town level joint planning meetings with stakeholders of the project
  • Capacitate, supervise and mentor field staffs on outreach HIV prevention, service delivery, demand creation and performance tracking
  • Support and supervise Drop In Center staff  in provision of services as per the
  • Ensure that the Drop In center services is linked to community based and facility based service delivery points through facilitative referral
  • Train and also supervise peer educators trainings and ensure implementation of step down peer sessions
  • Follow up of the overall site-level implementation of the project and supervise staff and volunteers
  • Update district level facts, data and service delivery facilities to recommend area of improvement and expand targeted combination preventions
  • Provide regular update to district level staff on program implementation, standardization, quality assurance and documentation
  • Represent the project at the town level if the need arises to do so
  • Ensure that project equipment is functional and well maintained
  • Ensure that women and girls are offered complete protection and provision of basic services while they are at the DIC
  • Support the central and regional level staff in organizing monitoring and joint supervision missions to the MULU prevention project
  • Coordinate and facilitate district level review meetings and participate in partnership forums
  • Document the project implementation progress clearly and concisely
  • Prepare periodical reports
  • Carry out other activities assigned by immediate supervisor

Job Requirements

MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

  • BA/BSC in health sciences, Sociology, Psychology and related Social sciences fields.
  • 7 years of experience in relevant work with especial attention to coordination & management of community based projects
  • Computer application skill
  • Communications skills & team player
  • Fluency in English and local languages
  • Knowledge of key & priority population strategy delivery

 Additional skill needed to succeeded

  • Fluency in spoken and written English.
  • Strong working knowledge of MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint and other applications,
  • Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills – both verbal and written which will help to deliver massages as needed during patient counseling.
  •  Demonstrated ability to build and maintain relationships with senior-level colleagues, particularly interacting productively, proactively, and comfortably with government agencies, and others stakeholders.
  •   Experience with USAID projects is strongly preferred.
  •  Track record of strong commitment to sharing knowledge, documenting experiences, supporting creative initiatives and sharing credit.
  •  Demonstrated strategic ability, diplomacy, conflict management, team building, written and oral communication, and negotiation skills.
