Introduction
Call for submissions is now open for EMT Global Innovation Champions, which will be part of the upcoming WHO EMT Global Meeting in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates on 5-7 November, 2024. This will be a unique opportunity to showcase your innovation that champions improvements in the quality and timeliness of health services provided by EMTs in response to disasters, outbreaks, conflict, and other health emergencies, and/or strengthens national systems and capacities for rapid mobilization, interoperable surge deployment and effective coordination. The best innovations will have the opportunity to collaborate with the WHO EMT Initiative and Network to further develop, scale-up and/or implement their innovation on a global scale.
The upcoming EMT Global Meeting is anticipated to convene participants from around the world, including policy-makers, planners, response providers and researchers from Member States, health authorities, EMT organizations, academia, and partners from across the health emergency, humanitarian, and disaster management sectors. These biennial global meetings have served as a crucial platform for exchanging knowledge, sharing best practices, presenting research and innovations, and fostering collaboration. Over the years, EMTs have shown innovative drive in adapting to increasingly complex environments, improving quality of care and responses, developing new tools and approaches, among others. EMT Global Innovation Champions are being identified to further harness and encourage this innovative drive, recognizing the criticality of innovation for accelerating health impact and for achieving the ambitious EMT 2030 goal of ensuring all populations affected by health emergencies have access to quality, life-saving and essential health services.
Submissions for the EMT Global Innovation Champions should be made via the submission portal at [link]. Closing date for submission is 8 August 2024.
Identified EMT Global Innovation Champions will be considered for oral presentation in the dedicated Research & Innovation Track at the Global Meeting. Top presentations will have the opportunity to present their innovation at the final day plenary session with the winner(s) decided by popular vote.

Eligibility criteria and additional information:
- Eligible innovations for submission:
- May include new or improved health policies, practices, systems, products and technologies, services, and delivery methods;
- Should have relevance to achieving one or more of the EMT 2030 strategic objectives and outcomes;
- Must already be developed, e.g. a prototype, and/or applied (i.e. are beyond the conceptual or pre-development phases);
- Should be novel i.e. has not been developed or applied widely previously or elsewhere
- Submissions may be made as an individual, team, or organization(s).
- Submissions from commercial/for-profit entities are also welcome, but they should have a primary social impact mission (e.g. social enterprises) and/or are submitting jointly with one or more non-commercial/non-profit organizations.
- There is no fee for submission.
- Submissions must be made in English.
- Successful submissions must be presented in person at the Global Meeting. The presenter(s) must register to attend the Global Meeting via the registration page before registration closing date. There is no registration or attendance fee for the Global Meeting. However, presenters are responsible for their own travel, accommodation and other expenses associated with attending the Global Meeting.
- All listed team members for the submission must have given permission to be included.
- Email correspondence regarding the submission will be with the listed corresponding person.
- Notification of outcomes will occur by email before 11 September 2024
