Job Description

.

The Ethiopian Kale Heywet Church Development Commission (EKHCDC), in partnership with FHI-360, is planning to implement Feed the Future Ethiopia Community Nutrition Activity that aims to improve the nutritional status of women and children through increased and sustained improvements in nine high-impact behaviors that have proven highly effective in reducing malnutrition. These objectives will be realized through enhanced individual and community agency and demand for services, improved access to quality nutrition services at the community level, and improved capacity and coordination among nutrition stakeholders across sectors.

Position Summary: 

 

The Nutrition Project Coordinator is responsible for effective and efficient implementation of the project. She/he is expected to closely work with EKHCDC head office team, fhi360 team, project MEL and Nutrition officers to document community, facility and Woreda level activities and report according to standard procedures. She/he is also responsible for the overall multisectoral coordination related activities of the project in the target Woredas.

Major duties and responsibilities:

  • Plan, organize, coordinate, implement and report intended community nutrition activities with project team.
  • Coordinate planed SBC and Community engagement trainings.
  • Participate and support SBC materials pretesting process
  • Disseminate and report tailored SBC materials.
  • Coordinate the nutrition catchment-based mentorship assessment at PHCU level.
  • Ensure the availability of necessary nutrition commodities and supplies (VAS, IFA Deworming and so on) at each respective woredas and facilities.
  • Support in Food Nutrition assessments and surveys in target woredas and kebele
  • Conduct participatory exercise to develop action plans to address multisectoral coordination gaps in target woredas.
  • Provide logistical and other support for woreda-level advocacy meetings on establishment of FN structure and manpower in food and nutrition strategy (FNS) implementing sectors at Woreda and Kebele levels
  • Monitor the community nutrition activities in target area.
  • Document and share success and case stories.
  • Coordinates the development of assessment tools, compilation and sharing of monthly and quarterly reporting format at all levels,
  • Document best practices, minutes of performance review meetings and JSS and share the findings toEKHCDC, fhi360 zonal and regional team and country manager.
  • Coordinate LME activities of the project including data collection, analysis and reporting of data, support all assessments designed in different Woredas,
  • Coordinate and conduct DQAs at the woreda level and health facilities, coordinate HMIS and eCHIS related training in different Woredas
  • Coordinate GYSI Activitiesincluding mapping and collaborating youth networks.
  • Ensure the Implementation of Community Nutrition GYSI integration strategy.
  • Represent Community Nutrition activity at Regional, Zonal and Woreda forums.
  • Provide need based technical assistance to Woreda health and nutrition offices.
  • Document and update the Woreda profile
  • Manage project budget and staffs.
  • Manage project budget, versus physical activities versus project schedule or period and taken appropriate actions.
  • Identifying and monitoring project implementation risk.

Job Requirements

.

Qualification:

  • MSc/MA/BSc/BA in Health science, Nutrition, Public Health, Agricultural economics, and related studies

Experience:

  • A minimum of 4 years experience for MSc/MA and 6 years for BA/BSC in coordinating and managing projects related to health and nutrition.

Skills Required Attitudes and Attributes:

  • Experience in Community Nutrition
  • Training certification in attending Health and nutrition
  • Creativity and ability to work with limited resources.
  • Respect, accountability, excellence, adaptability, innovation, building partnership, communicating with impact, coaching, facilitating change, information monitoring, planning and organizing, leading through vision and value.
  • Able to travel to project locations/ outside the town and working under pressure

Desirable:

  • Knowledge of the local context and experience coordinating similar project(s)
  • Knowledge and experience managing community nutrition project, coordinating similar projects.
