About ASDEPO:

Action for Social Development and Environmental Protection Organization (ASDEPO) is an Ethiopian indigenous, “Civil Society Organization” established in 2014. ASDEPO is mandated to operate in all regional states of the country and is engaged in different thematic program areas of intervention namely: Humanitarian Response, Education, Health, Women and Youth Economic Empowerment, Gender Based Violence and Child Protection, Migration/Human Trafficking, Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH), NTD’s Climate Change, Agriculture, Environmental Protection and Training in Gambella, Oromiya, Benishangul Gumuz, Afar and Somali Region.

ASDEPO fulfils its mandate by providing direct assistance to conflict-affected populations, including refugees, internally displaced people and host communities. Under its mandate, the organization focuses on emergency humanitarian response, rehabilitation and post-conflict recovery.

Currently ASDEPO’s implementing nutrition project focused on Emergency Nutrition response through CMAM approach in all region of Ethiopia.

For this reason ASDEPO is currently seeking a qualified candidate for a position Nutrition Officer at ASDEPO Head office.  The Nutrition Officer will be responsible for the planning and implementation of comprehensive package of nutrition program in the ASDEPO project areas in collaboration with the Nutrition Program Coordinator.

KEY Roles and Responsibilities

  • Nutrition officer provides guidance and support nutrition project in the implementation areas. S/he will be responsible to support the implementation of nutrition program in all regions; creates synergy and efficient working relationship with government and other agencies staff at the national and regional level to ensure smooth program implementation.
  • Participate in the development of training curriculum and tools for nutrition training
  • Maintain a data base/report and prepare report document for donors
  • Prepare reports and contribute to performance reports to the Nutrition Program Coordinator
  • Work closely with MEAL Manager to ensure data quality and accuracy.
  • Supports capacity building training provided at target project site to enable successfully for implementation of the project
  • Works closely with donor and other stakeholders in the planning, implementation and monitoring of the overall nutrition activities in the countries.
  • Provide technical and operational support to field project coordinates and nutrition staffs
  • Participates in the development of the work plan, ensures the achievement of specific assigned objectives.
  • Provide technical support and develop project expression of Interest and proposals by collaborating with program coordinator, fund mobilizing and financial department.
  • Supports the implementation of M&E activities
  • Participating on national/subnational cluster, TWGs, SAG and others coordination meetings
  • Compile reports and submits timely activity reports to the Nutrition Program Coordinator and MEAL Manager as per agreed reporting templates.
  • Contributes to documentation of good practices and lessons learnt.
  • Prepares any other report that may be required to fulfil the government or donor requirement.
  • Staff Supervision and management
  • Supervise Project staffs
  • Approves performance objective of subordinates and conduct monthly performance review. Provide staff coaching and mentoring.
  • External coordination and representation
  • Performs any other tasks and responsibilities as assigned by the unit head/his or her supervisor

Reports to: Nutrition Program Coordinator

Work Location: ASDEPO HQ, Addis Ababa

Job Requirements

 

  • BSC or Masters in Nursing, Nutrition, or Public Health.
  • Minimum of five years working experience for BSc and three years and above experience for Masters Holders related to Nutrition and related public service implementations in Emergency and development approaches.

Desirable

  • Knowledge in area of emergence nutrition intervention context is preferred.
  • NGO experience is mandatory.
