Organization Overview:

OWS Development Fund strives to mitigate human suffering as a result of natural and man-made catastrophes as well as empower the community to get out of the cycle of poverty. Focusing on hard to reach and remote areas OWS Development Fund targets vulnerable and marginalized segment of the society. Thus, with the aim to further advance OWS DF operations we are looking for a qualified & skilled staff for ‘Midwife’ position.
Position Summary:
We are seeking a skilled and compassionate Midwife to join our team in Gablalu, Somali Region. This role provides comprehensive care to women throughout their lifespan, with a focus on pregnancy, childbirth, and postpartum care. The ideal candidate will have a strong clinical background in midwifery and a commitment to patient-centered care. The position holder shall be in charge of technical quality implementation and delivery of the mobile health and Nutrition services in the assigned Woreda. She/he will mainly be responsible for the daily implementation of the ANC, Family planning, consultation of pregnant mother outreach EPI, health education, sanitation, safe motherhood and child health as per the guideline of RHB mobile health and Nutrition teams. She/he will be responsible for the daily implementation of mobile health and Nutrition services package as per the standard, supporting health facilities assigned as integrated mobile health & Nutrition modality and daily dispensary and drug supply management. She/he will also be responsible for day-to-day documentation of pregnant mothers, & counselling of childbearing age, people provided for health education, vaccinated children and all provided services accordingly and compile weekly and monthly reports and share with mobile health and nutrition officer and Woreda health offices
Project Overview
OWS DF would like to hire a qualified Midwife for an EHF-funded project titled “CBPF-ETH-24-S-NGO-27680 Intersectoral response to reduce malnutrition in drought and conflict affected people in Gablalu Woreda, Somali Region.”

About You

Key Responsibilities:
Provide prenatal care, including health assessments, education, and counseling.
Manage labor and delivery, including monitoring fetal well-being and assisting with birth.
Provide postpartum care to mothers and newborns.
Conduct gynecological examinations and provide family planning services.
Educate and empower women on sexual and reproductive health topics.
Collaborate with physicians, social workers, and other healthcare professionals.
Maintain accurate and detailed medical records.
Stay up to date on the latest advancements in midwifery practice and women’s health.

Job requirements

 

Qualifications and Experience:
Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) with a valid license to practice nursing in Ethiopia.
Minimum of 2 years of experience working in a clinical setting.
Strong understanding of nursing principles, practices, and protocols.
Excellent clinical skills in assessment, monitoring, and intervention.
Compassionate and patient-centered approach to care.
Effective communication and collaboration skills.
Cultural competency and experience working with diverse populations.
