About the Job
Meraki consulting is currently conducting a research project along with local and international partners on improving maternal and neonatal birth outcomes in public health facilities at Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. The research will be conducted both at public hospitals and health centers located in Addis Ababa. The data collection will be taken place through observation checklist using CSentery while health professionals conducting delivery and providing care for the newborns.
The research has the following objectives
- To examine the efficacy of a low-dose high-frequency educational intervention specific to the local context in enhancing uninterrupted skin-to-skin contact between mother and baby
- To examine the effectiveness of mobile assisted birth asphyxia anticipation to improve the execution of helping baby’s breath (HBB) practice among birth attendants and neonatal outcomes in Addis Ababa
Scope of the work
- The data collection will start within a month after this job announcement and the data collectors are expected to work at the assigned hospitals and health centers. The data collectors will be assigned based on their experience and their performance during the data collectors training session.
- The normal government working hours; (Monday to Friday: from 8:30 A.M to 5:30 PM and Saturdays: from 8:30 A.M to 12:30), with possible night shifts
- Not forced to work during national closed dates
- Able to attend the whole training days provided by Meraki Consulting
- Salary: organizational scale / negotiable
- Willing to bring their own smart phones or tablets
Responsibilities
- As a data collector for the above job announcement, responsibilities include:
- Collecting observational data using smart phone
- Uploading the collected data to server on daily basis
- Work closely with supervisors and team leaders to receive comments and correct the comments given by the data management team
- Report any challenges or changes immediately to the assigned supervisor
- Take consent from study participants for every observations
- Keep privacy and confidentiality of the patients data and information

Job requirements
Qualifications
- Educational background: BSc in Nursing, Public Health and Midwifery
- Experience in data collection for observational studies
- Proficiency in using CSEntry data collection software, or other similar electronic data collection using smart phone or Smart tablets
- Prior experience working in public hospitals or health centers is highly desirable
- Who had taken MCH trainings particularly HBB, BEMONC and other related is a plus
Required skill: previous data collection experience
