Sexual Reproductive Health (SRH) Programme Analyst – UNFPA Vacancy Announcement (Mekelle)

The Position:

The Sexual Reproductive Health (SRH) Programme Analyst is located in the Mekelle field office. Under the direct supervision of the Head of Sub Office, the SRH Programme Analyst will work closely with the other programme and operations staff in UNFPA Ethiopia, other UN agencies, NGOs and local organizations implementing SRH programs in the Tigray Region to ensure the timely and efficient delivery of SRH services to populations affected by the emergency, including access to prevention of HIV and to continuation of ART for people living with HIV, through proper referral, and clinical care for survivors of sexual violence and other forms of medical aspects of GBV in a holistic and respectful  manner..

Job Purpose:

Under the overall guidance and direct supervision of the Head of Sub Office based in Mekelle, SRH Programme Analyst will be responsible for the implementation, monitoring and reporting of UNFPA’s SRH programme in Mekelle. This will require establishing and maintaining effective partnerships with other UN agencies, INGOs, NGOs, local authorities, and local organizations and setting up and actively participating in coordination mechanisms such as clusters and technical groups within the region. Travel may be required to other parts of the Region and depending on the needs for support, the SRH Programme Analyst could be requested to support and oversee the distribution of RH commodities and other activities.

SRH Programme Analyst would be responsible for the following:- 

• Ensuring coordination with the regional and national platforms for the SRH humanitarian response, by actively participating and proactively representing UNFPA in these instances.
• Participating in/conducting service mapping exercises and (inter-agency) rapid assessments.
• Establishing linkages between existing SRHiE and GBViE programmes to ensure synergies between programmes and maximize programme impact.
• Developing training, community mobilization and awareness raising plans and ensuring timely implementation, based on identified gaps, needs and requests, and under the guidance of the SRH Specialist.
• Supporting training on MISP, CMR and other topics related to SRH in humanitarian settings training for implementing partners, national authorities and community-based organizations duty bearers in planning and implementing SRH and humanitarian programmes.
• Providing regular and comprehensive SRH updates related to the progress of MISP implementation and UNFPA’s pivotal role in ensuring the process.
• Working with the Data Specialists in compiling and analyzing SRH-related data to ensure readily available information on SRH services, gaps and SRH commodities distribution and to monitor programme implementation.
• Monitoring SRH-related assistance/funding and commodities provided by UNFPA to implementing partners for crisis affected populations.
• Monitoring and supervising UNFPA’s SRHiE programme activities by keeping a close record of activities and agreements made with implementing partners.
• Supporting the Communication Specialist with the information required, and preparing periodic progress reports as required and documents lessons learned and challenges, ensuring affected populations are portrayed in a respectful and dignified manner.
• Carrying out any other duties as may be required by the UNFPA management

Qualifications and Experience 

Education:  

• Master’s degree with specialization in areas such as social work, public health, gender, law/human rights, international relations, and/or other related social science disciplines from recognized universities/colleges
• A clinical background in nursery, midwifery or medicine, with SRH experience will be considered a strong asset.

Experience and Knowledge: 

• 2 years of relevant experience working on sexual reproductive health and gender-based violence with the United Nations, International Organizations, Government or NGOs preferably in an emergency context.
• Awareness and demonstrable knowledge of how SRH and GBV needs are manifested in humanitarian settings and ability to describe context-specific prevention and response actions.
• Experience in implementing the MISP.
• Field experience in complex emergencies, including humanitarian emergency response is an asset.

Languages: 

•  Proficiency in English required. Knowledge in other UN languages is an asset.
