Job Description

Report to: Health System & Reproductive Health Research Directorate of EPHI

Project:  Effective coverage project

Deployment area: Addis Ababa, Oromia, Amhara, and Gambella region

Sex: Male or Female

Duration of contract: 2 months

Required number: 4 [Four]

Project Information

Ethiopian public health institute in collaboration with the London School of Hygiene & Tropical medicine is working on different research projects.

The Informed Decisions for Actions in Maternal and Newborn Health project (IDEAS) is one of these projects and its aim is to improve the health and survival of mothers and babies by generating evidence to inform policy and practice in Ethiopia. One of the IDEAS project themes, the Effective coverage project, aims to examine whether and how effective coverage measures for maternal, newborn and child health can be integrated within a country’s health programm.

Main activities and responsibilities

. Conduct key informant interviews with selected stakeholders, objectively and in a technically competent, and friendly manner.

.  Provide clarifications on each item as necessary

.  Transcribe (verbatim) and translate all completed interviews in MS Word.

.  Take very good care of all materials and equipment assigned and submit them after data collection

.  Check to ensure that all interviews conducted are stored in a safe and secure location

.  Follow the guidance and instructions received during training

.  Inform the research team of any challenges or difficulties encountered during the administration of the interviews and focus group discussions and identify appropriate solutions

.  Work on data entry of survey tools once the field data collection was finalized

.  Locate selected health facilities and manage the survey questionnaire for each selected participant;

.  Works under the supervision/guidance of the project coordinator and report all best practices and challenges;

.  Must be of good health as the fieldwork may demand extensive travel;

.  Must be able to deliver the assignment and work independently;

.  Must be able and willing to stay in the field and work in any part of the country

Job Requirements:

.  The candidate should bring the written experience in conducting more than three qualitative data collection.

.Extensive practical experience in transcription and translation of qualitative data

.  Strong leadership and excellent interpersonal communication skills, energetic, passionate, patient, proactive, and self-motivated

.  Good written and spoken English

.  Ability to read text, absorb and pick out the interesting, important, and relevant parts

Job Requirements

.  MSc/MPH in any health-related field with proven data collection experience in facility or community-based research Projects and 4-year experience

.
