About Roha Medical Campus PLC

Roha Medical Campus PLC (RMC) is building an integrated health campus in Addis Ababa. When complete, it will provide world- class, high-quality, affordable healthcare across multiple hospitals and facilities. The campus will include a medical school and facilities for research and innovation. It will be set in a lush, green setting, built to the highest sustainability standards, and with a beautiful urban park open to the public. Development of the campus has begun, and the first hospital is already under construction.

Location: This role is based in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.

Timing: March 2023

Reporting: This position reports to the VP of Strategy and Clinical Development.

Remuneration: Salary is competitive and will depend on applicant’s background and experience

About the role

Roha is seeking a Hospital Operations Specialist to support RMC and the operations team in the development and maintenance of all policies, procedures, and work instruction documents to reflect RMC’s and the operator’s business operating policies and procedures as well as local and international regulations. This role works with RMC and the operator to revise, refine, and/or create the required standards and processes for hospital operation.

Responsibilities include:

  • Coordinate with RMC and the operator on strategizing, planning, and implementing the overall medical service delivery of the hospital.
  • Bring RMC and the operator up to date with local and international healthcare standards and regulations.
  • Support the development, adaptation and local contextualization of clinical standard operating procedures, manuals, and quality improvement initiatives.
  • Ensure the standard operating procedures, manuals, guidelines provided by the operator comply with the Ethiopian regulations.
  • Ensure the Ethiopian standard for specialized comprehensive hospital is fully adhered to upon hospital launch.
  • Coordinate and lead the different professional panel disciplines to advise the operator in the departmental planning and recruitment.
  • Liaise amongst the different directors of clinical services including Nursing, Laboratory, Pharmacy, Imaging, Infection prevention and customer services; and other stakeholders to ensure relevant standard operating procedures for each department are in place for the delivery of quality service.
  • Ensure policies and procedures are in place for assuring that the rights of individuals (patients, staff members, and community members) are respected.
  • Oversee the overall operation preparation and develop all the required documentations, systems, and procedures for the hospital operation.
  • Work closely with RMC management and the operator in developing and implementing the overall clinical services and operations standards and objectives.
  • Take on other related tasks and responsibilities as needed to ensure the overall company success.

Job requirements

 

About the candidate

Successful applicants have strong analytical and problem-solving skills, think at a superior intellectual level, are flexible and imaginative, are high-energy, persistent, self-starters, are good communicators in writing and verbally, and have a proven track record of managing hospitals, preferably as a medical director.

  • Medical Doctor and / or Medical Specialist in any medical field.
  • Five or more years progressive experience in managing public and/or private health facility, out of which, 2 years’ experience must be in senior leadership position.
  • Excellent understanding of hospital operations and process implementations.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of local and international healthcare regulations and standards.
  • Experience of establishing a hospital is a plus.
  • Fluent in English and Amharic.
  • Experience working in Ethiopia is a must.
