Job Summary

The GBV/ Mental Health Psychosocial Support (MHPSS) Officer will provide the psychosocial. Emotional and mental health needs for the GBV survivors and mainly be responsible for the day- to-day implementation of MHPSS activities and services with supervision of GBV Coordinator. MPSS Officer also expected to provide individual and group counseling and PFA for refugees and other groups: provide supervision, technical assistance, and capacity building to staffs, oversee and provide technical assistance to incentives, volunteers and social workers to ensure smooth delivery of MHPSS service. S/he will have the overall responsibility for coordinating operations to ensure the timely delivery, effective and efficient implementation of the activities.

Key Roles and Responsibilities

  • Provide individual and group counseling, psychosocial support for IDP and host community members in need of the service
  • Support GBV coordinator with the integration of mental health and psychosocial support into different sectors
  • Develop culturally, age and gender appropriate psychosocial activities for IDP and host communities
  • Work to improve referral linkage and collaboration with relevant partners and collaborators on MHPSS service and management of cases with mental illness and GBV
  • Organize awareness raising and sensitization event, workshop, campaign on mental health topics for IDPs and host communities targeting various age groups
  • Participate in various assessments and surveys including institutional readiness assessntent, MHPSS needs PDM/client service satisfaction survey etc.
  • support project team and trainers during training phase
  • Prepare periodical reports and submit to GBV Coordinator
  • Participate in MHPSS coordination meetings for information sharing, collaboration with partners. referral mechanisms, and advocacy for best practices and IASC MHPSS guidelines
  • Ensure the implementation of MHPSS activities according to the project proposal and plan
  • Ensure the proper identification, referral, and case management of critical mental health cases based on established referral protocols.
  • Ensure proper identification of people with acute stress and enroll to PFA and other MHPSS service
  • Participate in different mental health related implementation at woreda level meeling and TWG represent ASDEPΟ cluster mee
  • Provide MHPSS with in women and girls safe spaces
  • Regular discussion with facilitators and government bodies for quality improvement and reach effective quality standards
  • Collect key MHPSS client data and prepare reports on progress made, together with observations, challenges faced, and lessons learned
  • Documentation of best practices and share to respective technical team for review
  • Other duties as assigned by the line Manager
  • Represent ASDEPO in protection and GBV cluster coordination meeting and at sector working group meetings, coordination meetings as well during other stakeholder meetings (if relevant), and maintain a positive, continuous and visible presence for ASDEPO.
  • Ensure ASDEPO’s mandate is shared and explained to relevant stakeholders.
  • The role holder will have contact with children and/or young people because he/she works at the community level.
  • The role holder should be well acquainted with and act towards ensuring the ASDEPO’s Child Safeguarding Policy inclusive of awareness creation for prevention, reporting, and responding.
  • Demonstrate sensitivity and understanding of systemie diversity and cultural differences.
  • Ensure that gender equity is addressed in ASDEPOs staffing and programming

 

Job requirements

.

Qualification:

ASDEPO

. MA/MSc  or BA/BSc in Clinical and Community Mental Health, Psychiatry, Psychiatric Nurse.

Social Work, Clinical Nurse, Public Health Officer, Counseling Psychology or combination of these or other related fields.

Experience:

A minimum of 3 years professional experiences in a mental health and psychosocial support projects and provision of MHPSS.
